Chair of Trustees

Richard is a local business owner and over the years has advised government departments, MPs/parliamentary committees and tech companies. He has been a Chair of Governors, a National Leader in Governance, co-founded an education technology accelerator (EDUCATE) and was also Chair of TechUK’s Education Group. More importantly you can see him running around Flo Park playing football on most Saturday mornings or in the wonderful Flo Park panto! He lives in Florence Park with his wife and two teenage daughters.

Society Secretary, local resident, community engagement and business adviser.

Candida March has been an Oxford resident since 1982 and lives locally to the centre. She campaigned for Flo’s in the early days, and has been on the Boards of Metro Safety Group, UKNAR CIC, INTRAC, Film Oxford, Oxford HR, Oxford Urban Wildlife Group and Florence Park Community Association.

Oxford resident, equalities and children’s services consultant. Trustee

Shilpa was Head of two Children Centres in Oxfordshire. With a post graduate degree in science she has worked as consultant and delivered training in stakeholder engagement and equality and management in different sectors. Trustee.

Charlie moved to Florence Park in December 2020. With a background in leading fundraising teams for large charities in London, she is currently fundraising for Helen & Douglas House.

Natasha Sahgal

Natasha has worked at the University of Oxford as a researcher analysing biological data, and has lived in Oxfordshire for over a decade. Trustee.

Judith Secker

Judith is retired from work first as a trade union organiser (construction then health service) and from a second career in equalities, HR and staff training with the University of Oxford. Her community involvement has included setting up and chairing a cooperative day nursery in South London and most recently, until moving to Florence Park in 2019, chairing Wolvercote Young People‘s Club’s board of trustees.

Roger is an accountant working at local firm Chapman, Robinson and Moore. He specialises in audit and the charity sector, although works across all areas of accountancy. Before retraining as an accountant, Roger worked for 8 years in development for an Oxford College. During this time he developed a keen interest in the charity sector which has
transferred well into his accountancy specialism.

Sarah was born in Oxford and moved to the Florence Park area in 2020. A chartered environmentalist, Sarah has a background in leading social and environmental sustainability strategy and programmes for large organisations.

Julian is a consultant in environmental sustainability strategy and innovation. He previously worked at Saïd Business School and was co-founder of local social enterprise Cultivate, and Oxford’s sustainable food network Good Food Oxford.

Gordon now lives in Oxford and has championed issues for the city and county in recent years as CEO of the city council and through creating and developing key partnerships. He has always been focused on community empowerment, equalities and engagement. His range of experience includes volunteering, board level leadership in multiple councils and other public sector organisations, running his own consultancy company and roles in a number of early stage social enterprises.

Joanne is originally from Wales but has lived in Oxford for 22 years and is mum of four, she has worked in hospitality for over 25 years and has experience in running pubs, hotels and a guest house. Joanne also has two Degrees one is Spa and Wellbeing and the other Business Strategy Management. Joanne enjoys people and being part of the community is important to her.

Kirsten, a New Zealander, has lived in Florence Park for three years. She runs a digital and marketing consultancy specialising in publishing, hospitality, the performing arts and charitable sectors. Trustee.

Tanja lives locally in Florence Park and has raised her children here. She has 20 years’ experience working in Early Years and experience in a range of settings including nurseries, pre-schools, children’s centre and a Foundation Unit in a primary school. She holds a BA in Early Years education and is Forest School leader.

Makena is our Communities Manager. She works on communications, fundraising and supporting our volunteers. She has worked for a range of charities and community groups. Alongside her role at Flo’s she currently runs a charity called Xenia for women learning English.

Jan is our Administrator and has returned to her home city of Oxford after spending over 10 years living on a boat on the River Thames at Lechlade. She has a diverse variety of administrative experience working within the higher education sector and with various charities. Most recently she managed a green burial ground, arranging bespoke woodland funerals and helping bereaved families.

Victoria is a local parent whose experience spans the Arts, Education and Charity sectors. Driven by inclusion and accessibility, she moved from Children’s theatre into Arts Inclusion and SEND Education. Victoria also organises the logistics for Hear Their Roar charity which supports emotional well-being in disadvantaged communities.

Ella is the Research and Project Development Practitioner for the OX4 Food Crew, a partnership project between Ark-T, Waste2Taste, Oxford Community Action and Flo’s. Ella is passionate about creating a just, sustainable food system and has worked and volunteered for a number of initiatives/charities, alongside study in this field.

Jane Gallagher

Jane has lived in Florence Park since 2000. She has been a primary and secondary teacher and more recently worked as Play Development Officer. She has taken a lead in the highly successful resurgence of the Florence Park Community Centre, organising the first Playing Out street play project and setting up street parties. She is editor of Florence Park Newsletter, and is a local parent.

Damian Haywood

Oxford Resident, County Councillor, Charity Trustee, School Governor and Operational Manager for a Clinical Research Department at University of Oxford.

Damian has a child with profound disabilities and provides Flo’s with advice regarding their SEND requirements. He is a County Councillor locally with an interest in education, public health and the environment.
