Chair of Trustees

Richard is a local business owner and over the years has advised government departments, parliamentary committees and tech companies. In 2012 he cofounded an EdTech start up accelerator, called Educate, which is now residing within the UCL Institute of Education. He has been a Chair of Governors, a National Leader in Governance and also Chair of TechUK’s Education Group. More importantly you can see him running around Flo Park playing football on most Saturday mornings! He lives in Florence Park with his wife (who helped successfully campaign for Flo’s to be a community run enterprise) and two teenage daughters.

Candida March has been an Oxford resident since 1982 and lives locally to the centre. Her passionate commitment to social inclusion and empowerment have led her to be on the Boards of INTRAC, Film Oxford (Chair), Oxford HR (chairing Board meetings) and Florence Park Community Association.

Scott is a founding partner at Oxford Innospace LLP, a shared workspace in East Oxford. He lives on the Florence Park with his wife and children.

Paul is the Chief Executive of Aspire Oxford an award-winning employment charity and social enterprise, founded in 2001. Aspire helped to incubate Flo’s in its early stages.

Shilpa was Head of two Children Centres in Oxfordshire. With a post graduate degree in science she has worked as consultant and delivered training in stakeholder engagement and equality and management in different sectors. Trustee.

I am a local resident with a varied history of working in and for my community on many projects. Relative to the post, I’ve served as a Trustee for The Barracks Lane Community Garden, Chairperson of The Dystonia Society UK, School Governor, PTA Chair, Events Organiser, PR Officer for the former African Caribbean Association and in recent years served on the Cowley News Team as a Community Journalist.

Kirsten, a New Zealander, has lived in Florence Park for three years. She runs a digital and marketing consultancy specialising in publishing, hospitality, the performing arts and charitable sectors. Trustee.

Judith Evans

Judith has previously worked in higher education research and teaching, her most recent experience is in visitor experience and volunteer training and development at National Trust. She has a history of working with a range of charitable organisations and is particularly passionate about supporting groups that promote equality, social inclusion and wellbeing.

Catherine has lived in Oxford since 1996 and in Florence Park since 2009. She has held senior fundraising roles at the University of Oxford and Royal Shakespeare Company, working on a wide range of campaigns including the redevelopment of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. She now works for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust as Communications and Engagement Manager for the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre.

Tanja lives locally in Florence Park and has raised her children here. She has 20 years’ experience working in Early Years and experience in a range of settings including nurseries, pre-schools, children’s centre and a Foundation Unit in a primary school. She holds a BA in Early Years education and is Forest School leader.

Makena is our centre manager for communities and communication. She works on communications, fundraising and supporting our volunteers. Makena has lived in Oxford for 5 years, working for a range of charities and community groups. Alongside her role at Flo’s she currently setting up a charity called Xenia for women learning English.

Sam lives in Oxford and has worked in finance and business administration for many years including in Children’s Centres and Nursery schools.

Helen has worked in catering management for 16 years and joined the team at Flo‘s in January 2020 to re-launch Flo’s cafe. Originally from Estonia Helen has lived in Oxfordshrie for 10 years.

Annie lives locally and set up The Nature Effect Community Interest Company in 2011. Annie is founder of Barracks Lane Community Garden – a thriving project in East Oxford established over 10 years ago. Recently completed a six-month Interim Headship Role with Grandpont Nursery School.

Jane has lived in Florence Park since 2000. She has been a primary and secondary teacher and more recently worked as Play Development Officer. She has taken a lead in the highly successful resurgence of the Florence Park Community Centre, organising the first Playing Out street play project and setting up street parties. She is editor of Florence Park Newsletter, and is a local parent.

Anna has lived in Florence Park since 2001. She is an active community member with considerable local knowledge and connections. Anna managed Donnington Doorstep for 13 years. She has been a trustee and Vice Chair of Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre since 2015 and recently took up the post of Executive Director at the Oxford Parent Infant Project (OXPIP).

As Managing Director of Abel & Cole, Ella took turnover from £0.5m to £28m in 7 years. At the same time, Ella set leading ethical standards, winning The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development, Soil Association Organic Retailer of the Year, and the Fast Track 100 Green Award. Ella has advised a number of other successful social enterprises, including Happy Ltd and City Car Club. She is currently working with ClearlySo, the UK’s leading Impact Investment Bank.

Hilary is Flo’s lead on safeguarding. She brings experience from working in family centres, children’s social work, teaching adults and safeguarding. She has lived in Florence Park for seventeen years.

Damian Haywood

Oxford Resident, County Councillor, Charity Trustee, School Governor and Operational Manager for a Clinical Research Department at University of Oxford.

Damian has a child with profound disabilities and provides Flo’s with advice regarding their SEND requirements. He is a County Councillor locally with an interest in education, public health and the environment.
